			Welcome to NEARC
			The mission of NEARC is to increase the effectiveness of Regional Councils throughout New England. To advance this mission NEARC will: a. Assist members in strengthening the capability of their Councils; b. Provide a forum to facilitate the development of ideas, the exchange of information, and coordination of programs among and between members in order to enhance the regional concept of planning and development; c. Stimulate, encourage, and sponsor educational efforts for the general public, governmental agencies, and public and private organizations; and d. Undertake other related activities as determined by the members. e. Encourage a national presence through membership in National Association of Regional Councils (NARC). NEARC recognizes and respects the differences between the various geographical areas of New England and the responsibilities of each member, as a statutory organization of municipalities, to plan according to policies and procedures which are considered appropriate for their regions. NEARC will work toward uniformity in policies and procedures only so far as is necessary to maintain consistency within the States.
